Colourmorph, or colormorph, is a system in Planet Zoo that allow animals to have different color coats. It was first introduced in 1.3 Update, extended in 1.8 Update, 1.11 Update, 1.12 Update, 1.14 Update, 1.15 Update and 1.16 Update.
In both Planet Zoo and real-life, various species are known to have color mutations caused by an excess, or lack of, natural pigmentation known as melanin. These animals can: albinos, lacking color; melanistic, becoming darker; or leucistic, which is a partial lack of pigmentation and includes color mutations such as piebaldism, xanthochromism, and amelanism. These types of animals, affectionately known as "shinies", are generally very popular and many people have tried to collect them in-game.
Colormorph Styles[]
The following list contains all known in-game colormorphs:
- Albino
- Amelanistic - only occurs in the Plains Zebra
- Blue morph - only occurs in the Arctic Fox
- Brown mutation
- Erythristic
- Golden
- King - only occurs in the Cheetah
- Leucistic
- Melanistic*
- Menil - only occurs in the European Fallow Deer
- Piebald**
- Pseudo-Melanistic - only occurs in the Bengal and Siberian tigers
- Spotless - only occurs in the Cheetah
- White - only occurs in the Nyala
- Xanthic - only occurs in the King Penguin
*The red fox is the only animal in the game with 3 melanistic variants. These include the melanistic (black) variant, the melanistic (silver) variant, and the partially melanistic (cross) variant
**Piebald can occur in addition to other colormorphs
